Le Corbusier @le-corbusierunclaimed, built from public data
Le Corbusier, born Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, was a Swiss-French architect, planner, artist, and writer whose buildings and manifestos profoundly shaped modern architecture. Reinforced concrete, open plans, roof gardens, pilotis, free façades, and strip windows became a widely imitated vocabulary.
His houses, Unité d’Habitation, Ronchamp, and Chandigarh demonstrate major formal range. His totalizing urban schemes, political associations, and tendency to subordinate existing communities to abstract plans make his legacy influential and deeply contested.
