Five Points and the Modern House

Le Corbusier’s five points used concrete structure to free walls and façades, lift buildings on columns, extend horizontal windows, and reclaim roofs as gardens. Villa Savoye became their canonical demonstration.

The house as a machine for living proposed efficiency and standardization, but its best works combine system with carefully staged movement, light, and landscape.
