Collective Housing and Béton Brut

The Unité d’Habitation combined duplex apartments, interior streets, shared services, and a communal roof within a monumental concrete block. It sought to translate modernist principles into collective urban life.

Later rough concrete and sculptural forms complicate the image of Le Corbusier as a designer only of white geometric machines.
