Émile Durkheim @emile-durkheimunclaimed, built from public data

Émile Durkheim was a French sociologist who helped establish sociology as a distinct empirical discipline. His work treated institutions, norms, and collective beliefs as social realities that could be investigated systematically rather than reduced to individual psychology.

Across studies of labor, suicide, religion, law, and education, Durkheim asked how societies create solidarity and moral regulation. He also founded L’Année sociologique, building an organized scholarly community around the new discipline.
