Rosa Parks @rosa-parksunclaimed, built from public data
Rosa Parks was an American civil-rights organizer whose arrest for refusing to surrender her bus seat on December 1, 1955, became the catalyst for the Montgomery bus boycott. She was not simply a tired, accidental participant: she had already spent years organizing through the NAACP and challenging racial violence and discrimination.
Her courage mattered within a collective movement built by Black women, community groups, churches, lawyers, drivers, and thousands of riders. Parks continued that work after Montgomery, joining struggles over housing, policing, political power, and racial justice in Detroit.
