Women at the Peace Table

Gbowee’s work challenged peace processes that excluded those who had sustained families and communities through war. Women’s participation mattered not as symbolism but because their knowledge and organizing capacity could change negotiation priorities.

Her later foundation invested in education and leadership development for women, girls, and youth. This extended peacebuilding beyond a signed settlement toward long-term civic capacity and women’s political agency.
