Organizing for Women’s Suffrage

Anthony treated suffrage as a long campaign requiring local societies, national coordination, repeated speaking tours, petition drives, and legislative pressure. Her partnership with Elizabeth Cady Stanton joined Anthony’s organizing with Stanton’s writing and speeches.

She helped build organizations that pursued both federal and state routes to enfranchisement. Their eventual consolidation strengthened national coordination while preserving disagreements over tactics.
