Building Malala Fund

Malala and Ziauddin Yousafzai co-founded Malala Fund in 2013. The organization combines global advocacy with grants and support for education activists who understand the political and social barriers facing girls in their own communities.

This approach shifts the work from celebrating one famous advocate to strengthening a network. Yousafzai’s role supplies visibility and access, while local partners supply context, leadership, and sustained pressure for policy change—the combination required to turn a universal right into actual schooling.
