Spontaneous Order

A spontaneous order is a structured outcome of many people's actions that was not designed as a whole. Language, law, and markets may evolve through repeated interaction and rule-following. Hayek used the idea to distinguish evolved orders from organizations pursuing a unified purpose, while recognizing that evolved rules can still be criticized and revised.
