Knowledge and Prices
Hayek argued that economic knowledge is fragmented, local, changing, and often tacit. No planner possesses all relevant facts. Competitive prices can communicate shifts in relative scarcity and allow people to adjust without knowing the full causes. This is an argument about coordination under limited knowledge, not a claim that every actual market is competitive or just.
