Oratory, History, and Self-Creation

Churchill earned much of his living as a journalist and author, producing campaign accounts, biography, history, memoir, and published speeches. He received the 1953 Nobel Prize in Literature for historical writing and oratory.

Those works preserved events but also shaped his own place within them. His Second World War history became enormously influential, illustrating how a political actor can also construct the narrative through which later generations judge his decisions.
