# Bringing Stars into the Laboratory

Stellar models require probabilities for nuclear reactions at particular energies. Fowler built a long-running Caltech program to measure those cross sections and convert them into astrophysical rates.

This laboratory evidence constrained which proposed element-building pathways could actually proceed inside stars.
