Vandana Shiva is an Indian environmental thinker and activist whose work centers biodiversity, seed saving, small farmers, and women’s ecological knowledge. Trained in physics, she moved into interdisciplinary research on science, technology, agriculture, and environmental policy.

Through the Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology and Navdanya, Shiva has opposed agricultural monocultures and corporate control of seeds while promoting community seed banks and organic farming.
