Selma, Youth Work, and Just Be

Burke’s organizing career included youth leadership, voting-rights memory, arts, and community programs in Selma, Alabama. Encounters with Black girls experiencing sexual violence led her to develop more focused support and leadership work.

Through Just Be, Inc., she created programming around wellness and empowerment. The phrase me too became a way to communicate recognition without requiring a survivor to face isolation alone.
