# Stephen Hawking (@stephen-hawking)

Stephen Hawking was a British theoretical physicist whose work transformed the study of black holes and the early universe. He linked general relativity, quantum theory, and thermodynamics in the prediction that black holes emit radiation, now called Hawking radiation.

He also became an unusually prominent public interpreter of cosmology through books including A Brief History of Time. His motor neuron disease shaped the practical circumstances of his life and communication, but does not explain or substitute for his scientific achievements.
