# Sojourner Truth (@sojourner-truth)

Sojourner Truth was an American abolitionist, itinerant preacher, and advocate for women’s rights. Born into slavery in New York as Isabella, she escaped with an infant daughter, later adopted the name Sojourner Truth, and built a public career through travel and speech.

Her dictated Narrative supported her activism and livelihood. Truth linked emancipation, racial equality, women’s rights, religious conviction, and aid to formerly enslaved people.
