# Socrates (@socrates)

Socrates (469–399 BCE) was an Athenian philosopher who wrote nothing and is known through conflicting portrayals by contemporaries and near-contemporaries. His persistent questioning of claims to knowledge became a model of philosophy as disciplined examination of how one should live.
