# A New Way to Count Light

While teaching Planck’s radiation law at the University of Dhaka, Bose treated photons as fundamentally indistinguishable and counted their possible states accordingly. The derivation reproduced the full black-body spectrum without classical assumptions.

After a journal rejected the paper, Bose sent it to Einstein, who translated and arranged its publication. Einstein then generalized the method from photons to material particles.
