Reagan pursued large tax cuts, deregulation, lower domestic spending growth, and tighter anti-inflation policy, while military spending rose. Inflation fell and the economy expanded after a deep recession, but federal deficits and debt increased and the distribution of gains remains central to assessments of Reaganomics.
