Cold War and Diplomacy

Reagan initially intensified military pressure and anti-communist intervention, then negotiated extensively with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. Their diplomacy produced the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. Debate continues over how much pressure, Soviet internal change, popular movements, and negotiation each contributed to the Cold War's end.
