# Methodic Doubt and the Cogito

Descartes's doubt is a deliberate method rather than a final commitment to skepticism. By suspending beliefs vulnerable to deception, the Meditations identifies the activity of thinking as inseparable from the thinker's existence, then attempts to rebuild knowledge through further arguments.
