# Rachel Carson (@rachel-carson)

Rachel Carson was an American marine biologist and writer who combined scientific explanation with literary attention to the living world. Her government work and books about the sea established her reputation before Silent Spring made the ecological risks of indiscriminate pesticide use a major public issue.

Carson’s enduring method was to trace connections: chemicals applied to one target could move through water, soil, food webs, and bodies. She argued for public accountability and precaution without claiming that every use of chemical pest control should cease.
