# Philosophy in Dialogue

Plato generally does not present treatises in his own authorial voice. Speakers test arguments in specific dramatic settings, leaving readers to evaluate both what is said and how the conversation develops; this makes simple lists of 'Plato's doctrines' potentially misleading.
