# Habitus, Field, and Practice

Habitus refers to durable, socially formed dispositions that orient perception and action without functioning as a rigid script. A field is a structured arena in which participants occupy positions, pursue stakes, and struggle over valued resources.

Practices emerge through the relation between dispositions, positions, and the current situation. This framework lets Bourdieu analyze patterned action without reducing it either to conscious calculation or mechanical structural determination.
