# Capital and Social Reproduction

Bourdieu extended capital beyond economic assets to cultural, social, and symbolic resources whose value depends on recognition within fields. Education can reward inherited familiarity with dominant culture while presenting outcomes as purely individual merit.

His studies of schooling therefore analyze how apparently neutral institutions can reproduce unequal advantage. Conversion among forms of capital helps explain why privilege persists across generations.
