# Process Sociology

Elias argued that ordinary and scholarly language often turns movement into static things. Process sociology instead asks how institutions, emotions, knowledge, and identities emerge and transform over time. This orientation supports research across sociology and history and has been extended to subjects including sport, violence, informalization, and the sciences.
