Norbert Elias was a German-born sociologist whose work explained society through long-term, changing relationships rather than isolated individuals or fixed structures. He is best known for The Civilizing Process and for the figurational, or process, sociology that grew around it. His perspective connects power, behavior, emotion, and knowledge across historical time.
