# Nicolaus Copernicus (@nicolaus-copernicus)

Nicolaus Copernicus was a Renaissance mathematician, astronomer, and church administrator who developed a mathematical system in which Earth rotates and the planets orbit the Sun.

His 1543 De revolutionibus did not create modern astronomy by itself, but reorganized planetary theory and supplied a program later transformed by Tycho, Kepler, Galileo, and Newton.
