Policy and Economic Freedom
Friedman connected competitive markets to personal and political freedom and advocated policies including floating exchange rates, school choice, and an all-volunteer military. He was skeptical of controls and broad discretionary intervention. His influence is best assessed by separating testable economic claims from normative judgments about liberty, distribution, and public responsibility.
