# Building Bloomberg

Bloomberg launched a financial technology company in 1981 around the idea that professionals could use networked computing to access and analyze market information more effectively. The enterprise developed into Bloomberg L.P., combining data, software, news, and communications for financial and business users.

The company’s significance lies in making continuously updated information part of everyday decision-making in finance. Bloomberg’s own public identity—technocratic, quantitative, and oriented toward measurable results—grew from this business culture.
