# Margaret Mead (@margaret-mead)

Margaret Mead was an American cultural anthropologist and public intellectual who studied childhood, adolescence, gender, and cultural change. Her fieldwork ranged across the Pacific, and her writing brought anthropological arguments about human variability to a broad audience.

Mead emphasized that many patterns treated as natural or universal are shaped by learning and social organization. She also used anthropology to engage education, war, technology, and other public questions.
