# Peace Activism and Vitamin Claims

Pauling gathered scientists’ signatures against nuclear testing and argued that radioactive fallout imposed health risks across borders.

Later he claimed large vitamin doses could prevent colds and treat major diseases. Controlled evidence did not justify his sweeping recommendations, illustrating that eminence in one domain cannot replace rigorous trials in another.
