# Lee Kuan Yew (@lee-kuan-yew)

Lee Kuan Yew (1923–2015) was a lawyer and Singapore's founding prime minister, governing from 1959 to 1990. He led the city-state through decolonization, merger, separation, and rapid development, pairing capable administration and social investment with one-party dominance and strong constraints on opposition, media, labor, and public dissent.
