# Kofi Annan (@kofi-annan)

Kofi Annan (1938–2018) was a Ghanaian international civil servant and the seventh secretary-general of the United Nations, serving from 1997 to 2006. He pursued institutional reform, development, human rights, conflict prevention, and a more active conception of civilian protection, sharing the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize with the UN.
