# Intersectionality

Crenshaw coined intersectionality to show how discrimination frameworks organized around a single axis could fail Black women whose claims involved race and gender together. Their experiences could not be understood adequately by simply examining one category at a time.

Intersectionality is an analytical lens for institutions and power, not a ranking of individual identities. It asks how multiple systems operate together and create patterns that each framework may miss on its own.
