# Katherine Johnson (@katherine-johnson)

Katherine Johnson was an American mathematician whose calculations at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics and NASA supported major U.S. human-spaceflight programs. Her work included trajectory analysis for Alan Shepard's Freedom 7 flight, an independent check of orbital calculations for John Glenn's Friendship 7 mission, and calculations used in the Apollo program.
