Capital and Exploitation

In Capital, Marx analyzes capitalism as a system organized around commodity production, wage labor, accumulation, and the pursuit of profit. His account of surplus value explains profit through workers producing more value than is returned to them as wages.

Marx also studied how market exchange can obscure the social relations behind commodities. His critique therefore joins economic mechanisms to questions of power, dependence, and the reproduction of class society.
