# History, Narrative, and Complicity

Walker invents pseudo-historical narratives rather than illustrating a stable archive. Melodrama, folklore, pornography, and historical painting mingle with actual structures of slavery and racism.

This method makes spectatorship part of the subject. Confusion over victim, aggressor, desire, and identification exposes the appetite through which violent history becomes entertainment.
