# Kara Walker (@kara-walker)

Kara Walker is an American artist whose silhouettes, drawings, films, texts, and monumental installations confront slavery’s historical and psychological afterlives. She uses caricature, beauty, obscenity, and narrative ambiguity to expose how racial and gendered violence persists inside cultural images.

Her work is deliberately difficult: stereotyped figures can reproduce harm even as they reveal its mechanisms. Walker does not provide morally stable characters or a safe distance between past fantasy and present spectatorship.
