# Julius Caesar (@julius-caesar)

Julius Caesar was a Roman general, politician, writer, and dictator whose conquests and victory in civil war transformed the late Republic. His accumulation of military loyalty, offices, honors, and personal authority accelerated a constitutional crisis already driven by imperial expansion and severe social conflict.

Caesar was assassinated by senators on March 15, 44 BCE, but the killing did not restore republican stability. Further wars enabled his adopted heir Octavian to establish sole rule as Augustus.
