# Capitalism and Democracy

Schumpeter analyzed capitalism as an evolving institutional order whose success might undermine the social foundations supporting it. He also proposed a competitive-leadership account of democracy in which elections select governing teams. His broad historical ambition linked business cycles, corporate organization, intellectual life, bureaucracy, and political legitimacy.
