# John Cage (@john-cage)

John Cage was a American composer, writer, and artist who radically expanded concepts of music and listening. The work is associated with chance operations, silence, indeterminacy, prepared piano, and attention to environmental sound. Major examples include 4′33″, Sonatas and Interludes, Music of Changes, and multimedia collaborations with Merce Cunningham. A balanced account also considers his challenge to composer control and the common misconception that silence in his work means absence of sound.
