Koons’s early series placed vacuum cleaners, basketballs, and other commodities in vitrines or controlled environments. Presentation converted ordinary products into objects of suspended desire.

The work neither simply celebrates nor clearly condemns consumption. It reproduces advertising’s attraction while exposing the systems that confer value.
