# Jane Addams (@jane-addams)

Jane Addams was an American social reformer, writer, settlement leader, and peace activist. With Ellen Gates Starr she founded Hull-House in Chicago in 1889, creating a center where neighborhood services, cultural programs, investigation, and reform work developed together.

Addams linked democratic ethics to practical work on labor, immigration, children, women’s suffrage, and civil liberties. Her international peace leadership was recognized with the 1931 Nobel Peace Prize.
