Railroads and Corporate Finance

Morgan's firms formed syndicates and helped reorganize financially troubled railroads, concentrating financing and governance in the hands of major bankers. The same deal-making machinery participated in large industrial consolidations, including the creation of U.S. Steel in 1901.
