# Irene Joliot-Curie (@irene-joliot-curie)

Irene Joliot-Curie was a French physicist and chemist who, with Frédéric Joliot-Curie, discovered artificial radioactivity: the production of radioactive isotopes from stable elements.

They shared the 1935 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. She also advanced nuclear research, scientific institutions, public health, and women’s participation in government.
