# Gustav Klimt (@gustav-klimt)

Gustav Klimt was an Austrian painter and a central figure of Viennese Modernism. Trained in decorative and architectural painting, he moved from prestigious public commissions toward a radical synthesis of portraiture, symbolism, erotic figuration, ornament, and gold.

As co-founder and first president of the Vienna Secession, Klimt helped create institutions for art outside official academic control. The Kiss defines his popular image, but portraits, landscapes, drawings, and monumental cycles reveal a broader investigation of surface, body, and modern life.
