# Across the Atlantic

In 1901 Marconi reported receiving a transatlantic signal, challenging assumptions that radio waves would travel only in straight lines.

The celebrated demonstration was technically limited, while later transmissions established reliable service more clearly. It was a milestone, not the completion of radio.
