# Greta Thunberg (@greta-thunberg)

Greta Thunberg is a Swedish climate activist whose 2018 school strike helped catalyze Fridays for Future, a youth-led international movement. Her direct language has pressed political leaders to treat climate change as a present emergency and to align their decisions with scientific evidence.

Thunberg became the movement’s most recognizable figure, but the movement is larger than one person. Its influence comes from students organizing recurring strikes in their own cities and countries, translating an individual protest into coordinated public pressure.
