# Observatory and Namesake

At Paris, Cassini helped establish a dynastic observatory tradition and applied astronomy to mapping and longitude.

NASA, ESA, and ASI named the Cassini spacecraft for him. The modern mission was a vast collaboration whose Saturn discoveries far exceeded what the historical namesake could observe.
